Hello Loretta,
I've been your fan for many years. Your PBS Specials refreshes my soul. My mother passed away 6 months ago and I was very closed to her. It has very difficult to wake up everyday and put my happy face and go to work. I am a social worker in a youth & family agency which deals with struggles, unhappiness, violence and broken families. Your videos have helped to see life in
different perspective. How long I can endure this greif and I have s sense of being lost. Plus it will be the first Christmas without my mother and I decided that there will be no Christmas in my house.

I am very sorry that you have lost your mother. Unfortunately the nature of life seems to engage us with suffering as well as joy. Hopefully you have experienced joyful memories of you and your mother that can balance your grief. Her life lives on in you and you are her legacy. I am sure her values have been expressed in your work with families. Not having Christmas is a choice, however, the spirit of the holiday is one which we should all carry with us. It is one that resonates with peace and love. My best to you and yours. Loretta Laroche
